New year and new everything.

It’s a new year and everything is new. New school, new friends and even a new bike. I had a great holiday in Tassie with my Nan, Pop and sister but the plane ride was a bit bumpy going down there. Coming back was ok though. It’s the first time I’ve been on a plane by myself.

My new school is awesome. The classes are really interesting especially science cause we are doing CSI stuff like fingerprints and DNA samples. Cooking is great except they didn’t have any labels on the salt and sugar so some of us accidentally put salt in our muffins and cookies. Ewwwww.

This is the sort of thing we are learning to cook.  Yummy baked Caramel dumplings & Sweet & Sour Pork were my home cooking assignment.

Mum and Dad bought me a new bike from Aldi yesterday. Its a really cool mountain bike and has 18 gears and front suspension. I’ll have to get used to riding it now.

Woo hoo, its nearly new year

Wow the year has gone fast and its nearly 2011! I’m going to Tassie for 2 weeks holiday next Saturday, get to see my sister and Nan and all my friends. When I come back it will only be a week before I start the new school. I hope my teachers are nice.

This is our neighbour’s dog, Floyd. He is beautiful and loves a pat but he hates the flies and mozzies. He is always flapping his ears to make them go away. He looks sad doesn’t he.

I slept through the first grain train this morning. Mum and Dad heard it about 6.30 but I didn’t get up until 10.20. The train came back this afternoon and it had 52 wagons filled with grain. Dad said it will come every day while there is grain to pick up. I gave the driver a big wave and he waved back.

Happy New year everyone.

Woo hoo

We are buying a house here in Warracknabeal. We spent days going through all these houses and I was getting really bored. Finally we found a really nice house and my room has heaps of space in it for all my stuff. I can even get my Xbox out again when we get all the stuff shipped over from Tasmania.

Hopefully this will be the house. :-) I can go to the highschool here which goes to grade 12 so I wont have to change schools after grade 10. They even have a public swimming pool here so I told Mum we have to spend lots of time there in summer. Its even great because we can drive to the boat and go to visit everyone in Tasmania and be there the next day.

Warracknabeal

Today we went to the show grounds at Warracknabeal to have a look at the annual show. The show was cool because I heard Taio Cruz dynamite and I was dancing to it and in the process I managed to make a fool of myself for dancing in public, embarrassing. They had baby animals like kittens, a 2 week old puppy ahhh.

They even had a free comedy circus. I was one of the kids that got picked to have a game of tug of war with a clown and other kids. He told us about he thinks the last show he went to he pretended that other kids pulled both his arms out of his socket but he was joking and I hurt his arm he was like ow ow ow .

Junee, chocolate and fish.

We are here in Junee and they have the most awesome chocolate and licorice factory. We went to the chocolate factory and I got to make my own giant freckle. I also learnt how they make licorice and they made longest licorice strap. It was 230 metres long. Can you imagine how sick you would get eating all that. Its even in the Guinness book of records.

This morning Dad and me went fishing in the lake here at the caravan park. I caught the biggest fish of anyone in the park. It was huge and really heavy to lift out of the water. They arent any good to eat cause they are carp but it was fun catching him and throwing him back.

Tomorrow we are going to Wagga Wagga again and we will stay 2 nights. To all my friends at school, the freckle was sooooo yummy.

Treasure hunting.

Today we went to the Broom Factory and saw old fashioned straw brooms being made. They used Tas oak handles and wound the straw around the handles using wire. Once they got enough straw on they put it in a stitching machine and stitch it all together. Out the front they had a big pile of brooms that looked like a Teepee.

This afternoon we went out to an old gold mine at Adelong Falls. We took Dad’s gold pan and a shovel and pick. When we got down to the river there was an echidna there trying to burrow into the rocks. Dad got some gravel out of the river and me and Mum looked in it for all the gold. There wasn’t much but I found 2 small pieces and Mum found 3 bigger pieces. It was so cool hunting for gold, like treasure hunting.

Tonight we watched the possums playing and I gave them an apple. One of the little ones came right up to us and started eating the apple. He was so cute but he wouldn’t let us pat him. Mum got a photo of him eating the apple.

Canberra

Hi everyone, we are in Canberra now which is the catital of Australia. All the politicians work here but we haven’t seen any, they must be on holidays. We went to the Mint where they make all the money. It was so cool, I wanted to take it all home.

Yesterday we went to the Deep Space centre and it was so cool. I asked if someone could give us a tour and this scientist came out and gave me, Mum and Dad a private tour of the place. He even put a few of the sounds from the planets up on the big screen so we could listen to them. The spooky Saturn sound was really scary. After that he brought me out a special Nasa badge just like he had to keep.

Today we went to a glass place and saw people actually making vases and stuff. Mum is writing about it on her blog, the TassieD one.
